The King has returned

I can't believe I've been seeing Broadway shows on a regular basis for 5 years!! How do I know it's been that long? Well, Lion King has returned to our area... and it was 5 years ago when he made his debut here. Time flies when you're enjoying shows!!

The first time it was here, Santa brought tickets for dear hubby, the girls and I (from high in the clouds). I also saw it with my mom and her dear friends (from way up close). It was amazing and magical and truly breathtaking. It never ceases to amaze me the brilliance and simplicity and grandeur of it all.

I had the same feelings again this time. Santa brought tickets for me and all 3 kids to go see it (again from the clouds) while mom and I went in our regular spot (my fav spot for seeing the show). S had never seen it, A didn't remember much of it and C was just happy to be there. They loved the show and really enjoyed all the performances and design. I was happy that, except for one minor change, the show was the same - same quality, same style, same feeling. The men who played Scar were totally different but both were awesome. The first Scar was Patrick Page (Paige Davis' husband if you're a Trading Spaces fan). He was TOTALLY evil - his performance dripped evil from the first moment he was on stage to the last. This Scar is slimy. He can really pull off being the "fun" uncle to Simba while having a totally different meaning. I could see, through his performance, how Simba didn't have a clue what his uncle was really like.

Overall, after seeing this show 4 times, I have to say it doesn't get old. I love the beauty, simplicity and messages of the Lion King. It's truly an amazing musical to see and I highly recommend that you go see it if you have a chance. Long live the King!!
