My husband, despite all my teasing about him, is a wonderful guy. Back in December he schemed with my best girlfriend and arranged to send us to to Florida for a few days. He pretty much took care of all the arrangements, the only thing I did was get the Disney passes.
So M and I headed south, first class, and picked up our rental - a two seater black Pontiac Solaris. (My luggage BARELY fit in the truck and M had to hold hers on her lap until we could get to the hotel - luckily only minutes from the airport!). [And for the record, we both packed the same shirt/different color WITHOUT knowing the other was packing it.]
We shopped at Downtown Disney and Boardwalk, enjoyed all four Disney parks and just relaxed and had fun.
The funniest part of the trip was when we went for lunch on Friday at the Magic Kingdom (ice cream - hey we were on vacation without kids). A family with pushing a stroller came out of the shop with mom, dad and little one all enjoying their cones. A sea gull swooped out of the sky and in true kamakaze style dove at the mom's ice cream cone and knocked it out of her hand. Everyone who witnessed it stood for a moment looking pretty incredulously at the cone on the ground. The gull flew down and landed next to it, and began making a noise that could only be described as laughing. At that point the laughter started for all. Dad, who had trouble keeping a straight face, did go and ask the Disney folks for a new ice cream cone - which they gladly and quickly provided.
Other quick notes from the trip: We got to see the "new" Spaceship Earth (golf ball at Epcot) ride during it's testing and got stuck in there for 10 minutes; it was pretty cool though. M beat me at Buzz Lightyear's laser ride. The new Monsters Inc Laugh Floor was pretty fun with similiar technology to Turtle Talk with Crush (still love that the best). While you wait for Soarin' you now can play video games using the thermal images of the people standing in line; it's totally cool and everyone who is within range can play; makes standing in line a lot more fun. We ate at Beaches and Cream and got to see the famous "kitchen sink" dessert they have - 20 scoops of ice cream, every topping them have and an entire can of whipped cream all in a steel bowl that looks like a kitchen sink. Fantasmic and the Lights, Motors, Action show were awesome - it still is my favorite nighttime Disney show.
I must also share this about the car - it was so small and so low that we (both minivan moms) kept hitting our heads on the top as we'd get in. After all, we had to get in first before we could put the top down! When we drove we were on eye-level with the tops of Corolla car trunks. The car was so small it only filled a parking space not even 3/4 full! When we pulled into our different Disney parks, there were many minivan parents with their kids and gear in tow, who gave us looks that could only be described as mixes of awe and jealousy.
Disney is a great place for kids, there's no question about that. But thanks to two business trips with my husband, I have to say I like going with another adult (or adults) and just hanging out, enjoying what seems to be fun at the moment and not having to worry about all the stuff that comes with the kids. Granted my kids are older at this point, and I've loved sharing Disney with them, (nothing will beat the memory of my youngest thanking me for her breakfast in Cinderella Castle with the princesses, made me and my mom cry) but I also love doing Disney adult-style.
Thanks to my darling hubby for the break and to M for spending a few days playing at Disney. It was great!

You are SO kidding, right?!?! I get roses but you get a trip? How cool is THAT?! Glad you had fun! Bet it was hard to not feel guilty enjoying Disney without your kiddos around, but it was a well deserved break. We all need 'em!
I wish could say I felt guilty but I really didn't. This is the third time he's sent me away for a break and each time I've felt less guilty. I'm a better mom for getting my breaks... :-)
BTW - LOVE your pic - very cool!
