Congrats, Team!!

I'm sorry it's been a while since I've posted. We've been gone on vacation/soccer tournament and a conference. So I'll catch you up on what's been going on over the next few posts.

The reason we headed south was for C's soccer tournament. Her team played at Disney's Wide World of Sports against teams from Ohio, Florida and Georgia. They played great, winning the first game and tying the next 2. That secured a place in the final game for our team.

Our girls played against the Georgia state champs. And our girls played their hearts out. At the end of regulation we were tied 0-0. Then it was on to 2 mandatory overtimes. At the end of the first one we were down 1-0. At the end of the second one we were tied 1-1. So that meant the game would be decided in a shootout.

For the record, I hate shootouts. My darling husband and stepson love them, I hate them. HATE them. Have always hated them. I hate one-on-one shots. It puts a lot of pressure on both players but especially the goalie. My lovely daughter is a good goalie, a great goalie. She won one shootout. But this day it was not to be. They lost 2-0 in the shootout.

The girls were tired, a little bummed, but overall were proud of how well they played. C had blocked so many shots that her one hand was swollen. (Thankfully the swelling went down with some ice and time.) And all the parents were extremely proud of how well they had played during the tournament. Playing against teams from around the country you never know how well you'll do. We were content to play our guarenteed three games and "go home." For our girls to play that well and take silver, we were excited and overjoyed.

Congrats to players and coaches!! Ya'll certainly gave us all a lot to cheer about!!
