It's the "little" things

My home is all about the little things right now. When I told S to go to bed last night, he said, "Here" and wrote something down on paper. He was checking his email - one of the colleges he applied to (the same one his girlfriend and cousin attend) emailed him and invited him to set up a campus visit. "Will you call them tomorrow and set up a time to visit? I really want to go." That's the first time he's REALLY put effort into what I call The Great College Search. (It's an interesting process going through this search.)

C made straight As!! She worked her heart out, studying a little each day in those classes she was struggling in. Granted her struggles are Bs and sometimes a C, but those can add up. We're trying to figure out where she's going to attend high school (even worse than The Great College Search because of a few more limitations). I've told her that EVERY grade counts at this point. (I will admit that The Great College Search is factoring in - I now see just HOW important each grade can be.)

A also made straight As. We're also proud of her, but it's a little more expected with her. She's very smart and has been a bit bored this school year. We're looking for ways to challenge here so that she doesn't fall into bad study habits. One of the things we found was a program called Super Saturday. There are criteria that must be met before a student is accepted into the program and we're hoping they accept A. She wants to take a class on Musical Theater. She doesn't want to act (although she doesn't mind singing - she is in the school choir after all); she wants a chance to be a stage director like my brother's girlfriend. :-) I would love to see her get involved in something like that where she is learning AND using her talents. Keep your fingers crossed that she gets in.

These "little" things are truly adding up into "big" things.

Good luck to S with his college visit. Lets keep that excitement going.

Congrats to C. I know how hard she has been working for this. Great job!

A is doing great too. Good luck getting on Super Saturday. That should be great fun.

All three are doing well because mom is there every day encouraging them. You are doing a great job with all the kids and I am very proud of you.

Love you
