After more than 30 hours of snow, the sun came out.
It's so pretty, shiny and... well... gives that warm fuzzy feeling that snow somehow fails to share.
I couldn't believe how much snow fell. We haven't measured the snow on our deck table in a while. At lunch time it was 12.5" but that was several hours ago.
Kids have been playing in the snow, shoveling the driveway (boys - Dear Hubby, S and Dear Nephew), sledding, snowball fighting and just generally enjoying the wonderful white powder that fell from the sky. We've have kids in and out throughout the day, playing then warming up. I'm sure it's that way at many houses today. Hot chocolate and coffee are the beverages of the day. So much so that Dear Hubby made a run to the store for more milk (well, the milk was an excuse to see how the roads were doing).
Me? I've spent most of the day cooking. I love to cook but rarely have the luxury of time to do it. So last night I made fish sticks, popcorn shrimp and tater tots, then made a batch of chili and let it cook all night, then made eggs and bacon for breakfast, coneys for lunch (with last night's chili), turkey is in the crockpot for dinner tonight, and waffle mix ready for breakfast tomorrow.
We also switched the mattresses on the girls' beds, so that C will sleep where A did and vice versa. (The boys were wonderful to do this for me.) Why would I do this? Since our big windstorm when our house sustained a bit of damage (see earlier post), anytime A hears the wind whip around the corner of the house, she freaks out and can't sleep. Since C will sleep though anything, C agreed to my idea to switch. (What a great big sis she is!) C and her friends are now working on redecorating so that C's posters are close to her new bed location. The room is a mess, but they'll get it cleaned up and managable. (The REAL cleaning will be done on spring break!)
So we're movin' and groovin' here, doing our best not to let cabin fever set in. Last night we had part 1 of our Wii tournament. So far A is winning. Still have a few games left to play, if we play them. Tonight will be an early bed night for C and A, who have spent most of the day outside in the snow.
Hope you enjoy the above shots. I had a great time walking through the powder to get them.
